The streets of Olde Town Arvada were paved with chocolate . . . . that's chocolate lovers. On Saturday February 6, 2010, there were over a thousand people walking the streets of Olde Town Arvada. We had a school bus load of seniors from Aurora who came for the Taste of Chocolate.
The Taste of Chocolate was a great success and benefited Ralston House. There were approximately fourteen vendors with samples of chocolate for the public to taste, and tickets were just $1.00 per ticket or 6 for $5.00. The lines were long at the D Note and DiCicco's (in the old school house).
Lots of families and couples rode the carriage rides around the streets of Olde Town.
There was also story - telling at the Arvada Library about chocolate. The children really enjoyed listening to the great stories.
Julie Pech, The Chocolate Therapist, talked about the healthy side of chocolates.
The Creative Chocolate Cookie Contest at the Olde School House in Olde Town Arvada was a chewy success. Entries this year doubled last year's entries. There were 34 total entries for the cookies. The judges had a hard time choosing the winners this year. The winners were:
Chocolate Chip Cookies: 1st -- David VanKooten, 2nd -- Jena Green, and 3rd -- Matthew Walton
Decorated Chocolate: 1st -- Kyoko Wilson
2nd -- Denise Strong, and 3rd -- Jenn Fickes
Everyone had a great time. We would like to thank all of the local vendors and merchants, and all the attendees who supported the event. Thanks again from Historic Olde Town Arvada and The Arvada Festivals Commission.
